My parents nurtured a passion for sport in me from a young age. And like father like son, I encouraged my children, Emma and James, to be active from tiny tots. Emma and James grew to be passionate about gymnastics, and I thank them now for the introduction!

About 15 years ago, as a stockbroker in the City, I decided that the balance in my life (with two young kids) was wrong. So I left the City and started to look for a new adventure. My experience with Emma and James made me realise what an incredible boost physical activity at a young age could have on children’s all-round development.

And my new passion was born. Read more

Growing up in Germany close to the mountains, I was just 3 when I had my first experiences in alpine skiing. Since then I’ve always loved alpine skiing and I try to do it often as I can. Starting early with learning how to ski showed me the importance of developing and growing motor skills from a young age.

Apart from skiing I did a lot of other sports, such as athletics, gymnastics, handball and football, and still enjoy an active lifestyle.

My passion for sports inspired me to reach a deeper understanding of body movements and body functions. So I did a M.A. in Sports & Exercise Science. During my time at university I was working part time as an sports instructor for children and younger adults with disabilities. There I discovered that I enjoy teaching and how important it is to focus also on the emotional, social and cognitive development alongside with the physical.

I’m happy having the opportunity to apply my skills and knowledge within my work at The Little Gym.

Where have you lived?
I come from Lodi in Italy, a small city close to Milan. I moved to London at the end of September 2013 and I have been working here at The Little Gym since October 2013.

How did you get interested in sports?
Since I was a young, I was always a child who needed to move, have fun and do a lot of sport. I was just 4 years old when I started Classic Dance, but I needed something more energetic.
I tried athletics and then swimming, and at last I found my sport: Gymnastics. I loved Gymnastics since the beginning and that is why I did it until I was 22 years old. When I decided to stop competing I started to coach in the same club where I grow up as a gymnast. After teaching there for seven years, I decided to look for new experiences and was lucky enough to find work where I can use my passion for gymnastics here in London.

What do you love to do in your free time?
I love to spend my free time going to adult gymnastics classes with some of The Little Gym team, where we challenge ourselves practising skills on bars, beam, tumble, vault and trampoline.
I also passionate about travelling and spend my holidays discovering new places.
During my free time I also love to try new activity such as Flying Trapeze, surfing and dancing.

What can't you live without?
Well, I think it's pretty obvious I can't live without gymnastics. It started as a simple passion and then it become my job...I think I was 6 when I started doing handstands and now I'm still upside down most of the time!!!
Being Italian, I can't live without good Italian food: pasta, pizza and mozzarella!

Your favourite The Little Gym story?
I ‘m really happy to work here at The Little Gym and I think that the program is great.
I really don't have a favourite because I think that everyday here is like a different story where the children are the main characters! They learn a lot, develop their skills, build relationships, find friends and obviously they can get involved in sport and at the same time have fun!!!

Our Philosophy of

Three Dimensional Learning

At The Little Gym, our environment is fun, but our purpose is serious. That’s why we embrace a proprietary philosophy called Three-Dimensional Learning, in which physical activity is a conduit for nurturing your whole child. The Three-Dimensional Learning approach to skill development means that every class we offer fosters growth in three holistic dimensions—Brain Boost!, Get Moving! and Life Skills! Read on to see how each dimension of learning helps your child grow into a well-rounded, well-adjusted child.

getMovingGet Moving!

Developing flexibility, strength, balance and coordination through varied physical activities.

brainBoostBrain Boost

Nurturing listening skills, concentration and decision-making that benefit your child well beyond the gym.

40 years of

SERIOUS FUN

An innovative educator, musician and kinesiologist, Robin Wes envisioned a nurturing place where children could explore their physical development while also growing socially, emotionally and intellectually. He opened the first The Little Gym in 1976 in Bellevue, Washington and infused those early classes with the same positive, non-competitive spirit that characterises us today. Forty years later, children in more than 300 locations worldwide experience the Serious Fun of The Little Gym.
